So I think it's time I start reaching out to my ginormous fan base out there. Basically, I'm tasking you all to leave a comment about what food dish (lobster roll, pad thai, etc) I should taste test at many restaurants so that I can find the "best of" in NYC.
And, just for fun, I might extend this "best of" list to the entire US (and Europe, Katie!!) since I'm super excited about going here:

I'd like you to find me the best mint chocolate chip ice cream OR the best falafel in town. I HATE dried out gross gritty falafel.
Luckily, I have a mild obsession with both. Ben & Jerry's during lunch today?
rob-o: I know this isn't exactly what the post called for but am on a blog commentz ROLL so here are reccs for san fran/ napa:
napa- We LOVED bouchon-- remember those little round chocolate brownies that per se gives out after dinners (and that I stole a ton of at dad's party?) they sell them next door at bouchon bakery- you should seriously buy at least a trillion. They are the most amazing things in the world (except for your chocolate mousse- Shalom!) I had oysters and frog legs at bouchon and gr had the steak- I was totally bonkers for all of it.
Bistro Jeanty- less cute atmosphere, but as good/ possibly better food (this is all right in yountville.) gr and i both obsessed with the tomato soup with puff pastry on top- the food's a little "heartier" by and large than bouchon's, so if one is lunch and one is dinner than this is the place for dins.
Tra vigne (check spelling.) pretty delish italian- gr and i went for lunch and sat on the terrace that overlooked the courtyard and drank 14 quarts of s-c. heaven.
ALSO in napa there is a little food store along the main drag through yountville and into sonoma (will find out the name) that has completely transporting cheese (and, who am I kidding, meat.) PERFECT FOR TIME OF THE DAY.
Ok now I'm actually being made to do work-- more to come on SF!! TWO WORDS HOG ISLAND
